Bay-Area Mei-Chu competition was concluded on
Sep. 26th, 2004, at Cupertino’s Back Berry Farm. It was very
well attended by alumni of both schools. As for the competition,
Jiaoda won a hard-fought battle, 3-2, andalso the privilege to keep the
trophy for 1 year. The details are as follows:
-Basketball was held 9/11 at Campell Community
Center, and Jiaoda won 30-23. It was a fun game, and both teams showed highly friendly atmosphere and sportsmanship.
After the game, a lot of the players and family went to get some shaved
ice and chatted a while catching up with all those
years.
-Golf, Competition was held 9/19 at Cinnabar
Hills Golf Club in San Jose, and Jiaoda won 4-2. As this is just the
first year of competition, and Jiaoda already have a golf
team running on a regular basis for the past couple years, so the
result was not too surprising.
- Volley Ball. Competition was held 9/20 at
Campell Community center, and Tsingda won this competition 2-1 (25:13,
7:25, and 25:21). This is a very close game, but at the
end, Tsingda outlast Jiaoda and got the first point.
-Soft Ball. Both Softball and Tug-A-War was held
on the same day with the BBQ get-together Sep. 26th. Jiaoda won by a
landslide, 18:8. Jiaoda score 9 points the first inning,
and after that the game has been decided already.
-
- Tug-A-War. On this item, Tsingda was much
more willing to show the “growth” after everyone
getting out of school. Tsingda won 2 out of 3 easily. The first set lasted for
5 seconds, and the second set Jiaoda really put up some effort, and it
lasted 10 seconds. Anyway, we had lots of laughs.
The ceremony ended with Tsingda presented the
trophy from one of their senior alumni to Jiaoda chairman of the
association, Gary Wang. Jiaodagot to keep the trophy for one
year. It is now safely sitting in Jiaodacaptain, Lucas Tsai’s
living room, and we look forward to a more exciting event in 2005.
